    Is starting construction?

    Calgary's Homeless

I don't believe this is the case. Not to repeat what has already been mentioned, but imo the comments aren't a reflection of deep rooted conservatism, but more a reflection on the current situation. The issues seen lately are different than issues of the past. In the past the homeless population...

    Rivers Edge | 20m | 6s | GBS | NORR

I was wondering if that was a reason, every multi family project in the city is moving at a snails pace. I thought maybe there were a couple of hundred construction people in the city and all the sites were secretly sharing them at different lol

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

Fair enough, there are cemeteries being built in the the city, just not in locations where land is valuable. Nobody would ever suggest building a new one in the places where they already exist. I agree about the bike paths. If it’s a case of putting a bike path or ride oestrus walkway through a...

    Aeropark 18 | 18m | 6s | M2SC | Casola Koppe

I preferred the old design too, but this design will probably get built.

Just wait until the rest of the vinyl siding goes on, people will be in heaven!

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

It would be nice if you could have all three, some cemetery space, some park space and some development. Some of those downtown views from the edge are killer.

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

As ugly as the dirt pile is, it isn’t a waste of land. The pile is gravel used for roads, which could be located somewhere on the outskirts of the city, but trucks would have to travel back-and-forth 3 times times as far to use it. Cemeteries could have better recreational amenities but at...

    Broadway on 17th | 154m | 47s | Vesta | Zeidler

Whatever they do there, it better not be a one story plaza like the one to the west of it.

    Calgary's Downtown Dilemma

How do we create enough demand for downtown residential? I honestly don’t think we’ll ever see any conversions unless we subsidize them. For the record, I’m talking about a one time round of funding subsidization to kickstart. Put the subsidies out there now with the caveat that it’s a one time...

    11th + 11th | 138.07m | 44s | Intergulf | Ramsay Worden

It might be a while, but, the CRUs in 11th and 11th will have a better chance of filling up than the ones in Nuera or at West Village Towers.

Not much progress since the first update from a year ago, but at least there’s some progress. Also I forgot to welcome you to the forum @badc0ffee

Triple Os is good. I stop at the one in Cranbrook every time I go through there.

    Infill Development Discussion

Are you referring to assessed value from a property tax point of view? Or for how much it would cost for a developer to buy that land? If we’re doing say a 20 story building with 160 units that would easily generate more property tax, and what they’re paying. Unless businesses pay a higher rate...

Seven years since the first post, probably makes it the longest running project we have.

Calgary Bike Lanes and Bike Paths

I don’t think the rendering shows the true scale of what the sidewalks will be, there’s barely enough room for a wheelchair to use them. They’ll probably be four or 5 inches wider than what is shown in the rendering..

Even if they did that for Stephen Avenue, it would be nice for the tourists.

    Calgary Flames Official Thread

How are we feeling about the Flames making the playoffs? When they beat Seattle, I was thinking 65 to 70% chance but now I’m thinking it’s 50-50 maybe not even.
