The 2 story apartment bulding has remained half demolished for the last 10 days or so with no activity any time I walk by (which is almost daily). Not sure what's going on.

Saffron Bistro is moving to 17th Ave, below where Green Chili is (according to the note on their door). Bummer, loved their stuff. Opportunity for an Indian restaurant to move in elsewhere and have the whole neighbourhood to themselves!

This is why the work Leonard Development Group is doing in the area is so valuable. They are keeping the quirkyness in the area in the midst of gentrification and an influx of chains. And many, although not all, of the small businesses are thriving. Slow Burn Books, Le Comptoir, Avitus, Bonjour...

Flirty Bird closed in January. Tres Marias' last day in their current location is tomorrow, and per their Instagram, have almost finished moving in to their new location. It looks like they are keeping the seating that was left behind so the dine-in portion of their business might end up...

They closed in January, as did the Mash in Courtyard 33. Both were regulars of mine, but neither had many customers any time I went.

Tres Marias is moving a block away to Infinity, to the unit where Flirty Bird was. Fantastic news.

My entire opinion of this project is based solely on Tres Marias and to a lesser extent, Saffron Bistro, being able to relocate within the neighbourhood. They are an absolute staple in my household.

The liquor store just closed up shop and the apartment building had some boarding up on the basement windows when I walked by yesterday. Wonder if places are getting ready for the inevitable. I'll have to ask Tres Marias next time I'm in there....

Don't worry, there's a Local across the street and whatever is in the old Buffalo 1886 Cafe building now. Nothing like turning a (flawed for sure) destination into a parking lot.

I love the setback. Keep the part that interacts with the pedestrians more human scaled.

Doens't feel as imposing as I thought it would walking along the South side of 33rd. So that's good. I'm hoping a few of the businesses that will be displaced when Plaza 34 gets underway will find a new home in this building. I doubt it as I imagine rents will be significantly more expensive...

Now with half better sidewalks. The work is only half done currently and will be incomplete even when the Main Streets project is done. Even the "loop within the loop" is half amazing, half "why the fuck didn't they finish the job". It's not going to be complete because of the pending Plaza 34...
