I noticed they have paved the roads and put up lampposts. They’ve also built the park shown on the diagram.

    2025 Federal Election

With the big influx of people from Ontario and BC the past 4 years I was expected to see a larger percentage of votes for the left.

Awesome capture, and I’m not talking about the condos. They’re kind of boring TBH.

    Calling all Torontonians

I’ve lived most of my life in Calgary, so I’m not a Torontonian, but I lived in Toronto for 3 years. FWIW I think it depends on the type of people your cousins are, and what part of Toronto area they live in. When I lived in Toronto, it felt like two different cities, there were the suburbs...

It would be nice if 32nd had some sort of overall plan to make it into a more urban style road. The university has come up with some nice plans for a university district and university innovation, quarters, but there doesn’t seem to be any plan for 32nd other than to leave it as it is.

I would bet we’ll see crane for this given the size.

    Plaza 34 | 22.7m | 6s | Mancal | LOLA

I meant to say with the losses of smaller eclectic/independent businesses. They’ll be replaced by chain businesses, but overall it’s still a win. As the building ages it’ll become cheaper retail stock.

Anyone planning to travel to the US: Yay or Nay?

For the first time in a few years we won’t be traveling abroad. We’re going to go visit my wife’s family in Ontario. We haven’t been for a while and this year seemed as good a time as any. Usually, when we go, we go take a little side trip down to NY state. Not this time.

    Gallery First & Tenth | 60m | 19s | Truman

It depends on what your preferences are. The north and west side have better views (mountains and cityscape) but the south and east side tend to be brighter and have less wind when you’re out in the balcony. South will be good as you’ll get the mountains and Beltline skyline.

    BTYYC | 24m | 6s | Eagle Crest | Davignon Martin

^Exactly. I’m all for this new style of development we’re seeing in some of the inner city areas where 5/1s pop up on corners or corridors and smatterings of 4-12 unit developments showing up on the back streets.

    Plaza 34 | 22.7m | 6s | Mancal | LOLA

A very generic building, but with the losses of the businesses, there will be some wins for the neighborhood. Couple of hundred new residents plus a crappy awkward parking lot that’s going away and being replaced with some proper street frontage. The new businesses won’t be as eclectic as the...

    BTYYC | 24m | 6s | Eagle Crest | Davignon Martin

I’m down with odd 👍 Some of the new 5/1s aren’t to people’s tastes, but I don’t mind diversity. I’m thinking of new buildings like Monty 44, Flyover, Courtyard 33, AHC 6th Riverpark, Cascade, Solo on 4th EV606 Some are cool some not so cool but either way it’s nice to have some...

    Calgary International Airport

Passenger traffic is up from the previous January. Transporter traffic was down for January, I don’t know if that is to do with Trump or to do with the dollar. I’ll be anxious to see February and March numbers. Nice to see domestic and international up higher.

    11th Street Underpass | ?m | ?s | City of Calgary

I wouldn’t choose to close any roads down. I want to see better pedestrian and cycling infrastructure but I’m not supporting the closing any roads. If I had to pick closing one, I would say close 17th Ave. during the summer I’d be fine with that.

    11th Street Underpass | ?m | ?s | City of Calgary

I’d love to see less cars and/or slower traffic around the core, but 11th isn’t a road that has a lot of traffic or high speeds and for a road that’s not very busy. It’s highly useful. Personally I’d rather it stayed open to vehicle traffic, if only one lane per direction. There are a number of...

Construction costs will take a hit if we tariff them. Part of me wants to tariff even from the US, but part of me worries that costs are gonna spiral for certain things.

Anyone planning to travel to the US: Yay or Nay?

I went to Las Vegas last year, not because I wanted to be, but because of a wedding. Geezus that place is expensive. Literally everything is expensive is more than Canadian prices and then you have the exchange on top of that. Even without Trump, I probably wouldn’t be going to the US anytime...
