    Northland Village Redevelopment | 19m | 6s | DIALOG

I still think they should connect the new denser suburbs in NE to the LRT line. Northbound Metis Trail and Deerfoot are a mess during peak times. Either way, I think we can all agree that an Airport line should be the number one priority if we had a choice.

    Canada Immigration discussion

See the problem is, that the Canadian economy has been so jacked up by mass immigration, that a significant cutback would result in a contraction in the economy across the board, including financial losses for post-secondary institutions. And if a future PM like Pierre does significantly cut...

    Canada Immigration discussion

While I typically refrain from discussing social or political issues on these forums, your mention of this topic prompts me, as a South Asian Canadian born to immigrant parents in the 90s, to share my perspective. I largely agree with many of your points. What concerns me, however, is the hope...

    Glenmore Landing | 115m | 35s | RioCan | NORR

Yeah, I kind of agree, we're gonna hit 2 million in approx. 20 years or so, excluding the metro. We've already sprawled out quite a bit so it's either we keep sprawling out or squeezing more people into the existing city limits. Even with a balance between sprawl and inner-city growth, we'll...

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

Man! East Village has been such a letdown. The core, heart, of the community, is still a sea of parking lots. I wish CMLC would introduce some incentives to get the rest built out sooner before completely diverting their attention South of the train tracks, to Victoria Park. I know the homeless...

    The Forge | 16.5m | 6s | Kanas | Gibbs Gage

University District gonna be turning up a whole another notch come summer time when a couple of these developments are completed.

    Glenmore Landing | 115m | 35s | RioCan | NORR

It's infuriating how people are allowed to delay and cause a significant reduction in density for projects like this, which are isolated away from local single-family homes. Whether you agree with politicians like Pierre Pillovrre or not, I think it's good that gatekeepers and opponents are...

    Glenmore Landing | 115m | 35s | RioCan | NORR

Yea most likely. I don't even know why they reduced the height since most of the NIMBYist against this will be dead by then.

    Riverside Village | 86m | 27s | CNIB | S2

So this is where all of my CNIB donations have been going? JK😅 This is great news. I've long wanted a second skyline North of the Bow River. This will make the Riverwalk more visually interesting if a mini skyline is developed in Bridgeland.

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

They better fix all the intersection lights around this area. It's a complete mess during peak hours. I live right by this site so it's nice to see the density boost but the infrastructure also needs upgrading.

    Midtown Station | ?m | ?s | IBI Group

Calgarians generally don't prefer condo living, so financially these proposals don't always justify building them. However, I do see a potential for this to take off if the towers are rental-focused, as there is a strong demand today and likely for the foreseeable future for such a market. I...

    University District | ?m | ?s | University of Calgary Properties Group

Instead of storage, that location could've been a nice spot for a couple of small-mid highrises to further boost density.

I hope the momentum of towers continues westward!

    Heritage Station Towers | 79m | 27s | Westcorp | GEC

I guess I got an early Christmas present this year with a real highrise outside the core! I wonder if these towers will have a parkade built? I worked on the massive parkade under the Save on Foods in 2014. I believe it was also being constructed to include parking for these future towers, but I...

    Flyover Block | 20m | 6s | RNDSQR | FAAS Architecture

Completely disagree. I'm talking about LED boards seen in big cities like Dundas Square, not your local realtor's advertisement board on Mcknight! Plus you can showcase art on it as well. Calgary has the lousiest street lighting presence I've seen for such a big city and it's particularly...

    Flyover Block | 20m | 6s | RNDSQR | FAAS Architecture

The murals are starting to get played out. A big giant LED billboard on the side would've done wonders with proper advertisements (not Realtors). Given the backup on the 5th ave flyover during traffic time, it would've been a prime spot. Plus, billboards can add vibrance during nighttime.

    Aria Encore | 56m | 17s | Gracorp | Zeidler

We need to start pushing 30 storeys! Can barely differentiate some of these small towers in the distance from a large floor-ceiling midrise.

    Brentwood Commons | 85m | 24s | Casola Koppe

I also think we've had many opportunities taken away from us due to NIMBYism requiring heights to be lowered. Also, Denver is another sprawling North American city. Canadian cities outside of Toronto and Vancouver are starting to push for more efficient land use than our American counterparts...

    Brentwood Commons | 85m | 24s | Casola Koppe

I completely forgot that the height was revised down. I'd love to start seeing 30+ storey towers around Transit stations as long as they make sense and aren't finished/designed poorly, such as seen with the Hub by Banff Trail station. It would be great to see TOD high-rise nodes similar to those...
