    Scotia Place | 36.85m | 11s | CSEC | HOK

Rogers Place is absolutely atrocious at street level. Outside of Oiler games, there is literally no reason to walk by the arena as there is zero street retail. If the Flames can properly activate the EC on 12th Ave and along Stampede Trail as is envisioned, it would automatically blow Roger's...

I like the darkness of this one so far, it's something different. I thought there were rumors Concord 2 would start up. Finishing that building would really help this part of downtown.

    Eau Claire Market Redevelopment | 135.02m | 35s | Harvard Developments

Eau Clare is going to be a bleak hellhole for a few years for sure. The plaza is still not complete, and by the spring the mall will be demolished. Who knows when construction will ever start on the Green Line and nothing will be built by Harvard for a while.

I agree. Would it be better with some retail? Yes, but i think this is a really cool design and something very unique to the city if they pull off the materials properly. If this gets built along with Imperia down the block, this area will become pretty dense and active. Retail could soon follow...

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

I think part of the problem is that many of the trees in Olympic Plaza are spruce. These get really big, and as Duck mentioned, block a lot of viewpoints and create little shelters for homeless people to camp under. If all the trees were large elms or other deciduous trees with a high canopy...

    Riverpark | 18m | 6s | M2SC | Casola Koppe

Then I should have specified residential buildings. The cultural building is very nice, as is the historic Edwardian commercial block. Those were built a while ago. The newish condo you pictured is above average, but almost everything else is pretty bland and typical 1970's/1980's brown brick...

    Teck Place Conversion | 44m | 10s | Cidex Group | NORR

Yeah this doesn't look too bad overall, hoping for decent materials. Sierra Place, while disappointing they butchered the original mid-century look, I think is passable. Cornerstone is quite possibly the worst looking and cheaply constructed building I have seen in this city.

More shitty buildings in Chinatown…waiting for the day they allow something nice to be built there.

I’m confused with that corner. In the rendering the corner is filled in to make a perfect box (90 degree corner). Here it looks like they cut it all away. Are they making this a 9 storey atrium, filling and extending the floors back in, or deviating from the original design?

I saw some new renderings for the proposed arena in Saskatoon on SSP. It looks way better than the one that the Flames first proposed. Hoping for a much better design this time around and looking forward to the unveiling.

More shit from Arlington….slowly destroying 17th one shitty proposal after another.

    Unbuilt Projects

I wish Arris would have kept that design for the podium instead of the multi coloured mess that they ended up building. Classic brick and glass would have looked excellent. Of all those proposals the one I wish that had gone ahead the most was the Marriott Club Sport. Would have been amazing to...

    General Construction Updates

Yeah CMLC has become somewhat of a disappointment in recent years. They can't seem to get any actual projects off the ground from private developers. I also find their execution of projects to be rather lacking (Stampede Trail, 17th Ave extension both look very underwhelming at this point). The...

    BMO Centre Expansion | 25m | 5s | CMLC

LOL most major American and European cities don't have 85,000 seat stadiums. I agree that Calgary desperately needs a new stadium, but the trend is towards smaller capacity stadiums with more flexible seating styles. Calgary would best be served by a 30-35,000 stadium at the most. I don't think...

    Unbuilt Projects

I remember that one from the old skyscraper page days. Would have been 100x better than the giant turd that was built instead.

    Lincoln | 120m | 37s | Truman | NORR

Hard to see the details, but I like this at first glance. Something different to what is normally built. If Truman uses good materials, which they normally do, this could be a real stunner. Curious about the ground floor treatment if there will be some retail bays along the side. I do like the...

    General Construction Updates

That whole theatre in Chinook needs to be demolished. When it opened I was in awe, now it looks run down and cheap. This should be the cities premier theatre.

    The Forge | 16.5m | 6s | Kanas | Gibbs Gage

I think University district will blow east Village out of the water with a few more completed projects. It’s crazy how quickly and successful UD has become while EV languishes after a hot start. It’s disappointment to see.

Ugh why did you have to show that…now I’m sad. What a hunk of garbage.

    The Cornerstone | 36m | 10s | Peoplefirst

This thing looks as poorly designed and constructed as humanly possible. I've also never seen vinyl siding on a high-rise. This thing is going to fall apart in under a decade. I can see some of the siding hanging off the building after a good wind storm....I officially declare this the worst...
