    Teck Place Conversion | 44m | 10s | Cidex Group | NORR

I agree. I think the original building (when it was new) was far superior, but it was looking old, worn, and tired. I don’t mind this conversion so far. I’d rank it second behind Cube, but far better than the Eau Clare buildings and that vinyl siding abomination I will not name.

Hmm I’d take a Ritz Carlton, Shangri-La, or Fairmont as a hotel brand.

    General Construction Updates

I really like the renovations that SEC is proposing. Having a roof top restaurant will only help make downtown more vibrant and activate that part of downtown. As for my nemesis Eau Claire….what can I say. Are they even adding a splash park or has that been removed?

    Flyover Block | 20m | 6s | RNDSQR | FAAS Architecture

That’s disappointing and somewhat embarrassing. How is that not accounted for? What impression does it leave on visitors? Flyover block looks like a piece of shit. The only good thing is the grill will somewhat hide the terrible metal siding. Quality really is becoming a foreign concept.

    Oliver | 121.3m | 35s | Centron | Gibbs Gage

Quite possibly the best executed project in the downtown core. Solid design, excellent materials, ground floor is pedestrian focused, sidewalk trees that are actually alive, and fantastic restaurant use in the corner. 10/10 would repeat again!

    Glenbow Museum | 43m | 9s | DIALOG

Meah, it’s definitely better than before, and should look even better when it’s fully complete. However, I’m a little disappointed in the execution of the facade. I don’t like the mix-mash of windows and mesh that circle the top floor (I don’t think those appeared in the renderings). I also find...

    Flyover Block | 20m | 6s | RNDSQR | FAAS Architecture

If only they used white panels instead of grey, and used a better quality product, this wouldn’t be half bad. Not hating the grills so far.

That plaza is going to be such a happening spot right next a massive abandoned gravel parking lot for the next decade….

    BMO Centre Expansion | 25m | 5s | CMLC

I’m in Evanston, but my house is a corner lot on the ridge facing SW so I get battered by sun and wind all day every day….

    BMO Centre Expansion | 25m | 5s | CMLC

Hmmm my grass looks like dead straw because I’m not allowed to water it, yet somehow this new sod that was just installed is greener than a rain forest…..

Instead we got a nasty brown cinder block.

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

Man, that picture of Stephen Ave. really shows how bad the pavers/concrete has deteriorated. It really is in desperate need of a full renovation. It's so patched up and non-uniform. Really hope they renovate it to look more European.

Still hoping for Concorde 2 to start up and fill in that empty lot.

The double row of Elms in front of the Vernon Fanning Center and that apartment building? If so what the fuck? Why?

What a stupid plaza. Who designed this shit? Those poles are useless, unless they are designed to block wind from the barren wasteland of a plaza.

    Palliser One | 122m | 27s

Now if only Aspen would get off their ass and completely renovate Palliser Square (the complex attached to the Calgary Tower).
