This is a reno of an existing building, big improvement.
It still drives me nuts that CPR wants the 8St crossing closed there. Once that and this project are done, the connectivity between Ramsay and Inglewood will be limited to 12st, probably one of the worst connections for pedestrians in the inner city.
Why do we want an LRT connection to the airport? because it's a great idea and will provide easier access to the city for people arriving at YYC. I took the skytrain downtown from YVR and it was fantastic! much cheaper and faster than a taxi or Uber.

My concern is if this isn't started under the current council, then the next one will nickel and dime it and we will have another half assed system that runs at grade. Or even worse, it gets shelved for another 20 years in the name of saving tax dollars.
Evan Woolley is now also pushing for a pause on the Green Line, I'm nervous for the future of this project now.
Sounds like an issue with bad soil there or something, definitely not a unique problem here. As long as it's a new bridge (and not centre street) and there are no at grade crossings, it's fine, having the train elevated on it's way into downtown from the north might make for some spectacular...
You could say that about half the streets downtown. It's quite clear which transportation mode has had the priority in this city... 5th is one that I've always been amazed about how narrow the sidewalks are...
