    Roads, Highways & Infrastructure

I would love more access to St Patricks Island from Bridgeland and the LRT. My kid loves going to the playground there and it would be great to have easy transit access, and a shorter walk for ice cream afterwards.

    General Construction Updates

That lot is owned by Minto. No DP, but when they applied for land use in 2017 they said "Minto plans to build an 8-storey condo building on the site that will integrate with the Bow to Bluff public parks improvement project."

    Calgary International Airport

So you are telling me that this announcement on August 13, 2021 had no connection whatsoever to the writ drop on August 15?

What’s appalling is the singe-family houses in Roxboro across the river, they should be demolished to fit into the urban context

    Calgary International Airport

Lucky for Calgary that the airport is in a competitive riding, if this were Michelle Rempel’s patch they probably wouldn’t get a nickel

    Calgary International Airport

Seems like a great project for 2020-2021 when there’s hardly anyone using the airport …. Alas, the wheels of government turn slowly and only get some grease when Calgary Skyview happens to have a very competitive election …

    Covid-19

Obviously if Rt stays constant indefinitely and exponential growth continues at the current rate, then the UCP plan doesn't "work". Some combination of enough acquired immunity through infection among unvaccinated people, combined with changes in private behavior, will bring Rt below 1...

    Covid-19

Too early to tell I think, i don’t think we have enough data yet to tell what the ratio of cases/hospitalizations will be with so much more vaccination than the third wave.

    Calgary Regional Rail Transit

Seems unlikely to me that they will build one-seat heavy rail directly to the terminal, the turning radius and the tail tracks are hard to accommodate. I would bet that "Phase 1" Banff-Calgary-YYC service would terminate on the current rail corridor shown above to the west of Deerfoot...

DP was appealed to the SDAB. Don't see the file on their docket yet but I am 99% sure it is our local litigator Ljubica Stubicar at work again. She appeals every application and revision on the block, often followed by requests for judicial review.

    Roads, Highways & Infrastructure

Hopefully there is some give and take in the relationship between the City and CP -- I'd like to see the City come up with a final design so it can be costed, and then it can become another bargaining chip as Green Line and Banff rail needs evolve.

    Calgary | Kensington Mixed Use | ?m | 9s | Stonebriar | McKinley Burkart

From the CA letter: "The applicant indicated that there will be a 1:1 parking to unit ratio. We note that parking stalls in the proposed M-U1 district can be relaxed and allow for a .75 stall per residential unit ratio. A combination of alternative transportation and local amenities can help...

    Calgary's Downtown Dilemma

Great points both @ByeByeBaby and @darwink, makes me think a lot about different aspects of city building ... this will be a fascinating debate over the next few years.

    Calgary's Downtown Dilemma

I would love to see a high-quality, high-frequency, heavily subsidized bus service to the mountains. But I don't see it as a meaningful downtown revitalization initiative. I am very skeptical that such as service would attract international tourists or conference attendees. We do get a lot of...

    Calgary's Downtown Dilemma

$50M for 6km of track construction from downtown to Bowness to Sunalta seems very light when you look at the actual conditions around Edworthy Park. I think continuous double track through that area will be cost prohibitive. We will hopefully see more detail when the CIB finishes their study...
