Good to not lock ourselves into one ecosystem for next gen.

We will still buy F-35s, a large number of them.

I suspect we will buy many Grippens too. Everything we can use them for, we will. Like replacing the Snowbirds very expensively, and maybe setting up reserve squadrons to keep ex-fighter pilots somewhat current after they 'retire' to fly airliners. A rotation of reservists to the Baltics.

Glad to see we are only an observer and not throwing money at this. The 6th Gen programs are still early and many of these cross country programs fall apart, especially if there isn't a "lead" country. The German-French FCAS is hanging on by a thread, and every single 5th gen program that has actually produced a jet are from a major military power and not one of these joint programs. The F35 is technically a joint program, but it's basically driven and led by the US. Let's see how far the UK/Japan/Italy can get, but I'm very doubtful.
