The massing gives it a 70’s feel, but the buildings have a fairly modern look.
An unfortunate reality. Once there is more development around the area the problem will mostly go away, moving to some other area nearby.. One issue this project might have in attracting residents is the amount of vagrants in the area. That would be a huge turn off for me if every time I left my building I'm seeing addicts shooting up or milling about high as a kite.
It might help a bit in the immediate vicinity of the building if it has decent security but I doubt it'll help much overall until the whole area sees much more residential development. Scrapping the naive honour system on the C-train would probably help quite a bit. It's not the early 80's anymore. Society has changed (for the worse).I hope this development helps with the problems in that area. Every time I've been to Chinook Centre recently I have encountered some sketchy group or individuals. It's gotten so bad that the family bathrooms in the foodcourt were locked one time. I noticed a large gathering under the stairs of the Macleod Pedestrian overpass another time also. It's getting to be East Village level in some areas.
