I wonder if it'll start construction before Cantiro's Plaza
You could probably layer on the Truman hotel towers as well, the east beltline will look much different in 4 years. Would love to see a large scale grocery in that area, certainly the density will soon support itIt’s been a rough area over the years, but it’s been improving. It might only be my perception, but it already feels busier than it used to be.
Once Beltline block, the Galloway, and the TransAlta building conversion are done, we’re looking at another thousand residents added.
I recall Co-op was intending to have a store in the east part of downtown area. I wonder if that's still in their plans. You could probably layer on the Truman hotel towers as well, the east beltline will look much different in 4 years. Not to take away from the point too much, because this area is under-served grocer wise; but much like the previously stated Sunterra, there's also an H-mart in the area, which does provide basics even with the focus on East Asian food and imports. This part of the Beltline is incredibly underserviced when it comes to grocery stores. If you live in this development (when it's built), the nearest grocery stores are East Village Superstore (17 minute walk), Mission Safeway (27 minute walk), and Beltline Safeway (18 minute walk). Sure none of those are prohibitively long walks but when you're carrying two bags of groceries, it's simply impractical for most people. I feel that around a 10 minute walk is the most that is really 'walkable' for grocery trips.
