Sorry westside is what I meant. I still believe it is a missed opportunity to not have some glass exposing the outside. Views would have been great, especially if there was a club/loge/premium seating area directly in front of it. Oh well, lets see what they do to spruce up the blank wall.

Yeah that Northside area (if images and what we can see so far are any indication) looks awful. So much empty blank wall and space. Why didn’t they just go fully around with the upper level? Maybe it’s there so they can hang a giant portrait of the Queen…..

That’s actually the west end.

You can't run the bowl seats any higher or they'd have columns in the sections. The roof structure is probably pretty well max span before other compromises would need to be made.

Think about having windows on the west side … when the sun goes down in the evening it will be blinding. I went to a cowboys game in Dallas and they have a huge window at the end. Was blinding for the players and the fans looking that way. Leave the windows out of hockey arenas please🤦‍♂️

Most NHL games start at 7:00/7:30 in the winter….not much sunlight at that time to worry about. Some type of retractable curtain could be installed for the few occasions where that could be a problem. I’m not expecting a massive glass wall like in Dallas or Vegas, but even a small strip of glass would have been cool. I guess that’s my only complaint of the new arena is that it appears rather heavy and has very little glass in the facade. .

There is glass along the concourses though. I think that's where the glass makes a difference and makes the place feel more open. Went to a game at Prudential Centre vs Scotiabank Arena (Toronto), and the glass wall in New Jersey made the area feel nicer/more open. Glass in the arena, if it is night time games, will be dark outside, and daytime games, the curtain will be closed, so what would that do exactly?

Once Stampede Trail is developed you're just getting a strip of glass looking at the facades of apartments across the street. Not really worth the effort.
I'm not sure what will be on Stampede trail will be more than two or three stories. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't see the Stampede getting into residential.

If that Cowboys parking lot gets the hotel, which would surely be more than three stores, that will block the good view in itself. Unless you're really hoping to showcase Nuera to the rest of the world.

To assist your argument, whatever is built (eventually) in the NW corner of BMO would block the view too. I just imagined the Calgary Tower torch being lit post a Flames Stanley Cup win and being able to see it from inside the bowl.

If the Flames win the cup at home the fans would all be too drunk to notice.
