If that one wasn't getting built at the height of international student enrollment, I'm not sure what they're waiting for.Still waiting on the Brentwood Co-op too...

With Quarry Bay thankfully out of the picture, maybe we'll see something happen there, though if they were to use Royop again it might end up being a smaller development of Munro's scale. I'd like to see them partner with a larger developer like Bosa, Truman, Slokker, etc.. and come up wit some high rise action.Still waiting on the Brentwood Co-op too...
Ah, I didn’t even consider there might be a parkade lol.My parents went on the weekend and said the parkade was pretty full. They live within walking distance but were thinking of using the heated parking in the winter to thaw out their car from time to time. They also said the store gets lots of lunch time traffic from Colonel Macleod school so the increased grab and go options will be well used.
What coop needs is management with some vision. I don’t know if they’ve changed, but they used to have mgmt that didn’t care much for change or thinking big. With Quarry Bay thankfully out of the picture, maybe we'll see something happen there, though if they were to use Royop again it might end up being a smaller development of Munro's scale. Sounds like the old store is not having residential, just retail? Just an uninformed theory but is the challenge is they want to own the land and asset, so for the big developers, it just doesn't make sense to be a development partner (builder) when they can spend their effort and labour on projects of their own. You can see when they're just a grocery partner, Truman is building a large development in Marda Loop, but where they own the land, it's hard to get developers buy in.What coop needs is management with some vision. The fact they originally engaged a company like Quarry Park is telling.
Co-op is probably big enough. It’s anchoring the Marc and Marda project which is pretty big.The other issue is the size of co-op as grocery chain. I would think for larger developers, like Rio can, or Bosa, they would want to partner with a grocery store. They know can carry it, even if business is slow. The last thing they would want is to have a grocery store at the base and have it close down.
