Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

Where is ATCO moving its manufacturing facility to in order to make room for this development?
They have an ATCO structures site in the industrial area just east of stoney. It was previously NRB Modular which ATCO bought out.

My friend is an electrician there and he told me the currie building is basically falling apart and leaking bad. They also pay really high fees to transport their structures on Glenmore. So I would imagine everything gets consolidated to the east facility

Atco Park launched their website today. Looks like a great master plan from O2.

Umm. These concept renders look a lot like something designed by... Allies and Morrison...

Just sayin'

I worked on the office side a few years ago. Everything about that building is showing its age.

Yeah, based on this dropping I'm thinking the one I thought may be Allies and Morrison is not. It may be Bankside Properties.

I'm still holding out hope for the Quadreal project in Eau Claire. To me it would be a waste of Allies and Morrison's talents to do something at Atco Park, when any random architect would do. If I'm Atco, I'm hiring any architect who could do a reasonably good job for a reasonably good price.

That's true. They could have just prompted O2 to "make it look like Copenhagen."

Hopefully it's not just gloss and we get nice materials and design. Definitely points toward Allies, but I'd be happier if they still had something up their sleeve, and we had a local firm doing great work like this!

I would love it to be the Quadreal project. Unfortunately, them being a pension fund, I don't see them moving forward with anything on that scale with the current global uncertainty and the softening multi family market. And they strike me as being rather conservative, thus not the kind of firm to hire a "starchitect" - although I hope I'm wrong on both points.

With Quadreal having that recent open house engagement and an LOC submitted, it makes me think something maybe in progress. I guess time will tell.

The old Symons valley Ranch was torn down this week (what was left after the fire). Wonder if they are going to follow through with one of the proposals for the site in the last few years??
