Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

The most interesting tidbits for me is Slokker breaking ground on Vibe Q1 2026. It's been rumoured to be happening, but it's nice to see it in CMLC literature. Of course Library Square breaking ground is awesome as well. The intrguing one is Triovest's land use application for a two tower project beside Studio Bell.

Nothing deactivates a space more than a for rent retail space. CMLC knows how much they can rent their spaces for and I suspect they're not commanding the rents necessary to make it viable. Plus the area can only sustain so much, so do you create a vibrant concentrated high street in the centre, or do you push vibrancy to a disbursed periphery?
Ah, helpful perspective, thank you!

New fairmount hotel location? Or possibly the Allies and Morrison location?

Honestly though, what is this? Just the city making parcels that work better together to allow some sort of development... on top of tracks?

17th ave between north and south Macleod is 1 way westbound for a block? Has that always been like that or part of the changes to the overall stampede /Victoria park station?

What was the reason for it? I am not for or against it, just curious.

the city's most visionary minds
I mean it is Populous but who knows how loose the reigns were.

It was, during construction of the 17th Ave Stampede Park entrance, I don't think it is a one way now.

What is going on blackfoot trail, just south west of Ogden, right at the bottom of the hill when you head southbound? Just west of Crossroads market. They are doing slope work on either side of the road.

Looks like they're keeping and repurposing some buildings... The furthest east building and the one across the "Plaza" from it. Very interesting.

Shadowing their own community with 30 story towers, the people around Glenmore Landing would never stand for such a thing, they might even wear a yellow shirt.
