Fairmont Hotel | ?m | ?s | Truman

Luxury brand might be debatable, but it's still generally considered a upscale brand. I honestly can't see them or any other upscale brand wanting to be in the rivers district unless it was already built out.

This article points to what you were saying, that the brand maybe isn't what it used to be, but also that they want to move it back into luxury brand territory.
Isn't that what JW and W is doing though? Marriott groups the JW in with Ritz and St. Regis. And W is grouped with Luxury Collection, EDITION, etc. I'd argue they're at the lower end of the group, but it's still their highest tier brands. Or maybe I'm getting the district boundaries confused and those aren't in the Rivers district.

Maybe we're talking about the same district but two different aspects of it :)

There's this version which is the one I'm thinking of in my mind. There's also this version which looks to be the official boundaries of the district. If it's over by the Marriotts it would be a different story. I was thinking in my head of the Rivers district being the parcel by the bus barns.

I don't want to stop the speculation, since it is fun, but when Urb speaks, I listen. If this cleans up that corner of 11th and 5th, I'll be very happy. And I do think it is a good location, it is close to the core of downtown and an up-and-coming part of the Beltline, especially with all of Truman's other developments.

My ideal would've been 1st and 17th, where the Sovereign sales centre is, straight shot into Stampede Park and into downtown.
I'm all for this and believe it is the best location for it in the city. It feels big city and fast paced but close to amenities and a walk from both big offices downtown, and dining/nightlife in Beltline. Oliver, 2 park central and the Truman buildings give it some big modern street level feel where I think guests would walk out and feel like they are in an important spot. Plus that plaza is a bit of a sore spot.

Disclaimer*** "the location of the map is not exact", but...they are calling it "Stampede Park"!

So Accor and Truman, for no reason at all, mention Stampede Park and the CED in their release as being why the project is possible...but then place it at 11th and 5th? Possible, sure, but highly unlikely
Listen, no one knew, and no one really knows still. I just trust Urb, he seems in the know. If it is beside the Cowboys Casino, I will remove some marbles from Urb's bag haha.

love the debate! This is a huge piece of the Stam Trail puzzle, if it truly is at that location, the NE corner just became that much more enticing.

Ah got it. Yea that would be odd to have a random hotel plopped in there without some rentals/condos being built first.
