I don't agree, this fills in the neighbourhood a little more but there's still a large hole. Like you say this is boring and 90/00's suburban but that's what Currie is going to get. Currie has had potential, but more and more I lose hope it won't realize that potential. Maybe the redo of 33rd and 34th made making Currie a destination too daunting.Probably enough to get it over the hump and on to feeling like a neighborhood.
Yes and no. With this built it would still have that big open space of the other two parcels, but at least the north half of Currie will be developed. I guess that side will feel like a completed neighborhood.I don't agree, this fills in the neighbourhood a little more but there's still a large hole. Meanwhile in Livingston steps away from the planned green line station...Yeah that's very underwhelming. Although, at least they appear to be providing a proper courtyard as opposed to surface parking..
It's still better than Canyon Meadows station, which It's flanked by two car dealerships:Meanwhile in Livingston steps away from the planned green line station...

Was always going to be tough to achieve the density described in that original currie "vision", without the west LRT going that way. Also hard to create a "neighborhood" commercial area with marda loop being so close. Could still see a university district type vibe though, with some ground level chain-style retail. Not every area in the city is going to command premium finishes and qualityI don't agree, this fills in the neighbourhood a little more but there's still a large hole. Was Canyon Meadows stations always planned for there or was it the only spot available when they decided to extend the LRT south? It's still better than Canyon Meadows station, which It's flanked by two car dealerships:

New times we live in. Time for another developer to take a run at some towers. If I remember correctly, in 2006ish, there was a zoning application to put up a few big apartment buildings where Advantage Ford is. The community of Bonavista on the other side of Lake Fraser Drive were very opposed, and Council didn't seem to be in support (can't remember if it even went to a vote or not) so the developer said forget it, and built the car dealership. Any other long-term member here remember that?
