Crestpoint Real Estate Investments Ltd., and Minto Group are teaming up to acquire and take Minto Apartment Real Estate Investment Trust (MI-UN-T) private in an all-cash transaction which values the REIT at approximately $2.3 billion.

Using their experience at the Viscount Bennett site, here's hoping they can take on some other former institutional properties and turn them into multi-family, multi-structure developments. Went past the old Nexen building on the train tonight and it had me wondering if the UofC conversion had opened yet and if there has been any plans announced for the rest of the building?

Classes start there this week. I toured through it briefly yesterday, much nicer space than the old central library site.

Interesting they have a gym set up before there really being any tenants in the building. Maybe something will get announced shortly.

Or they might be using amenities like the "fitness centre" to attempt to draw in tenants in much the way Aspen has done for Edison and Ampersand.

This could be an exciting one to watch. O2 has in the past been involved in some pretty ambitious proposals (Broadway on 17th, Marc & Mada, the Grace Hospital site, getting Kit approved at 15 storeys in Kensington) so I am curious to see what the plan is for this site.
