Looking at the YUL numbers we probably gained a bit on Montreal for 2025 and I can see that continuing for at least the short term. Wouldn't surprise me if we overtake Montreal for the #3 spot in the next 10 - 20 years
Have a soft spot for Wesjet since the company is based here, but now I book almost exclusively Air Canada because of not wanting to risk a 28' legroom seat, the numerous ex-Lynx, Swoop, Sunwing plans that aren't up to Westjet standards, decent chunk of the fleet with no wifi. I get having European like ULCCs, but flights in Europe are 2-3 hours, here it's 4+ for many destinations.YUL will jump back up to 22-23m once US travel is back on the rise - probably around the time YYC hits 20-21m. An overtake could happen with the Westjet growth in the next 10-15 years but hard to say for certain.
The OG westjet planes are actually alright, the new ones that's been making the rounds in the news is 28", which is on par with Spirit airlines in the US. Even Ryanair has more room.I find that same issue with WS. I usually end up booking with them, because the flights either the cheapest or because it's direct, or has the best flight times. The leg room though.... Also I have run across the issue of older jets with no wifi.
I think they would have benefitted greatly by making the 28' seats Swoop pink, and you were assured that if you booked a westjet seat, you were never swoop'ed, even if it was a better option to get you to where you need to go during irregular ops, except by choice. The OG westjet planes are actually alright, the new ones that's been making the rounds in the news is 28", which is on par with Spirit airlines in the US. Even Ryanair has more room.
Why are we expanding and more importantly "paying for the planning, design, and construction" of these pre-clearance facilities.
I think that might be a bit far.. My guess would be the Galapagos islands, they also have penguins down there! We have penguins at the zoo, non-stop service to Ushuaia, Argentina...![]()
