The Plaza theatre was the coolest Art Deco element of the building. Also, there were some really neat details in the elevators (I seem to recall a monkey bas relief panel) that must have been lost in the interior demolition.
I liked the colourful terrazzo floors in the lobby, and honestly even the vintage bathrooms. The Plaza theatre was the coolest Art Deco element of the building. Why is this project taking a decade. It's like they're building the Sagrada Familia. This building is of middling significance as an art deco building, globally. It's only special because it's the best of its kind in Calgary.
