General Construction Updates

New Marda Loop sign! I’m curious to see if it lights up at night.

Edit: city representative says it will be lit.

I like that they're putting a sign up for the Marda Loop entrance, but a sign with letters backlit against a black backdrop would have looked really nice. This looks a bit suburban mall-ish to me. Like they borrowed it from Crossiron Mills.

A shame that the sign design doesn’t somehow pay tribute to the history of the area/name.

New sidewalks they’re building on 19th Street NW. I’m in support of the project but they started in early September and haven’t even finished one side of the street yet with the northbound lane under 24/7 closure. Looks like the bike lane and another layer of the roadway needs to be poured.

And why are those tactile strips placed like that?

Is this a location for a crosswalk pole or light standard? It looks to be right in the middle of the bike lane area.

It’s not supposed to be a crosswalk light. As part of the project, the flashing beacon is being moved to the Southside of this intersection. I hope it is not a street light post considering pre-construction there was not a streetlight post in this location either.

No problem. The amount of construction is insane but I've only been sharing that market street area. There's also a massive new sotrage facility with some other businesses that's being finished across from the Superstore to the south. Not to mention a new HOA for Seton and countless woodframe condos that are pretty generic and not worth sharing.

Whatever it turns out to be if it's protruding, you'd think the city could have moved it 2' to the right or a foot to the left so it wasn't in the middle.
