Sorry for the crappy picture, screenshot from Glenbow’s Instagram page showing a brief drone fly around video. That upper glass corner looks as awful as I feared it would. Did they really choose sea foam green spandrel?

Hopefully the inside turns out well, as the exterior leaves a lot to be desired. It is not as smooth and clean looking as the original renderings made it appear. Too many weird vents and windows take away from the look. Definitely an upgrade from the original but a bit disappointing.
There's like one panel of windows in the whole exterior other than the entrance and more than half of it is spandrel... Like why bother. Would it have cost a lot more to just rebuild an entirely new building?

I’m starting to agree, this renovation is not that appealing. I wish they just imploded the whole thing and started from scratch. Would have probably taken less time and be finished sooner!

Tough crowd, I see this thing almost everyday and it doesn't photograph as well as it feels on the street. It is a hundred times better than the concrete box that was there before. Museums as a function of what they are are not bright open buildings. The effect on the exterior is interesting and changes as your angle to it changes. The feel of this thing, even under construction, from the street is much better.

Try not to let the spandrel of a small corner of the project influence your opinion so much.

It's dragged on for a while this one, I kind of forget the original logic of maintaining the existing structure. Seems like the outcome has always been limited by this condition.

Nothing I have seen has moved me off my original position - skeptical. I am sure the interior will be better than the old one, but I always feared we are just recreating a modern version of the old - sure it's shiny 2020s aesthetic, but the programming remains is uninspired, it's not really a culturally relevant place that attracts crowds. I fear it won't transition into a top-tier amenity for visitors, but instead remain on the elementary school trip circuit and corporate events.

The exterior doesn't inspire confidence, but the proof will be in the programming and capacity of the inside.
