I wonder what will become of the Calgary Tower once the W Calgary building is completed. I cant imagine they'll get very many visitors there once the observation deck on what will be the tallest building in Alberta opens. Maybe it's time for not just the Saddledome to disappear from our skyline.

Not every tourist is going to be aware of the observation deck on the W once it is completed necessarily. The restaurant and the Calgary Tower being an iconic local landmark will continue to attract visitors, even with a higher observation deck.

We don't need to get rid of the Calgary Tower, just do what Tokyo did and build a second gigantic observation tower 😂

I’m only going by Truman’s press release. Maybe they meant floor count, generally taller means height. And if that’s the case, then we could easily be looking at somewhere around 900 feet.
In talking to a few people here and there, it's confirmed the taller one will be taller than BP or Stantec (as most already believe) and will be "close to the height listed in the thread" No confirmation for sure if the shorter one will be taller than BP. We'll have to wait and see.

I think the Calgary tower will be okay. It’s closer to downtown and has the cool lights and such. It also has the revolving resto and glass walkout floor.

Official name of this one is Stampede Station Hotel & Residences

Stampede Station Hotel & Residences... doesn't exactly mesh well with the premium image of the "W" or the "JA Marriott". I hope this name is simply a placeholder.

Wonder if the northbound lanes of the Macleod couplet could be converted to two way and the southbound lanes (aka 1st St SE) restricted to local traffic, pedestrians and bikes. Ideally, a Stephen Ave subway and 25rh Ave interchange would elimate other delays on Macleod so that reduced lanes would not meaningfully impact traffic flow. The couplet design creates a hostile pedestrian environment and wasted land islands.

Didn't Truman confirm both will be taller than Brookfield?
