Stampede Station | 252m | 69s | Truman

I'm always amazed at Truman, and kind of worried as well. I can't believe how much they've taken on.

I've been under the assumption that the three Truman towers downtown was mostly funded by outside investors (due to the advertising on that Toronto condo site) and Truman was more managing the project, but maybe someone with more knowledge can shed come light.

My thoughts as well. I’m not familiar with the details of their finances, but it’s mind boggling how much they have going on. I really hope they don’t stretch themselves thin. For a hotel brand like this to partner with Truman, I am somewhat reassured though. Surely they would have done their due diligence.

So excited! This is my first time posting on here but just wanted to get everyone's thoughts if Calgary may be getting a new tallest from this? 😅
My guess is probably not a new tallest as this is rumored to be hotel/residential, but it'll likely be a new tallest for a building without an office component.

Welcome @uofc888
Wow seems like the possibility for Calgary's new tallest is getting warmer!

Well, well, well... look who was right after all!

Congratulations @uofc888! Quite the first post/prediction, there.

Above are the brand tiers for Marriott.

Truly impressive! Calgary now has two modern luxury hotels, along with a classic brand, Palliser (Fairmont).

Below are the brand tiers for Accor and Hyatt..

Is Calgary finally coming for our crown?? This can't be happening 😭

Fr though, what an awesome proposal. Calgary is just going crazy right now with development and its really cool to see this kind of proposal coming to Alberta. Hopefully this gets built!

From the article: 'JW Marriott will operate as a luxury hotel, while W Calgary will be a lifestyle-luxury hotel, and the Autograph Collections Hotel will be a premium-lifestyle hotel.'

Trying to make sense of these hotel tier levels has me cross-eyed. Is luxury higher than premium?
Part of the reason they have so many brands is many were through acquisitions. Autograph is a level above a standard Marriott, and usually have some unique branding/amenties, whereas chains like Courtyard or Marriott very often have the same brand amenities and the same decor

and JW/ W is like 2 levels above. JW is still business oriented, whereas W is more modern. JW is for the executive going to the Global Energy Show, whereas the W is for the executive’s kid going to the Stampede

I swear to God, if we fumble this...
6 years of Alberta's Tallest in Edmonton, and Calgary is finally coming for the Crown

Calgary had the Oxford Tower Proposal back when the Stantec was still U/C, But that got Cancelled
It has been Over half a decade since Alberta has built an 800 footer

It's Truman: So it's Likely gonna get built

Design wise: These towers are Legit some Worthy contenders for Tallest in Western Canada, Unique design, Potential Landmark Status

Truman COO (Tony Trutina) on the CBC Eyeopener right now saying BOTH towers will be taller than our current tallest. Mah gawd...

DP's being submitted next week at the City according to him.

How far is this development from the proposed "grand central station" (which, as I understand it, is proposed as a station on both the airport-downtown-banff rail project and the Calgary-Edmonton high-speed rail project)? Does this suggest confidence that one or both of those potentially game-changing projects might actually be built soon?

Call it about a 20 minute walk to the proposed grand central station proposed area.
