Stampede Hotel | 45m | 12s | Truman | NORR

What a transformation of that intersection in just a few years. Truman is really going to dominate that area once they get those parking lots built up as well.

I'm curious how Stampede will set up their entrance when this is done. I'd assumed right now they will close off 17th at the LRT tracks for the event. But once this is built, they will have to keep the road open up to the hotel entrance which will limit the pedestrian space in front of the gates.

Otherwise, looks really nice! Glad to see a hotel on the grounds go ahead!

They have access gates installed at the crossing so maybe they can set up limited access just for the hotel?

Going back about 15 years when park expansion/redevelopment ideas were a bit different (though 17th ave and BMO expansion were pondered in the long term), the idea was to consolidate to one main gate using the BMO Centre lobby - just as you would for entering a tradeshow right now. I think there's a good chance that they would move walk-up admission sales to that location, but maintain access/egress points similar to the current locations (likely a bit further east for the 'main gate') for pre-purchased tickets/pass holders

It looks nice, but the BMO centre missed an absolute opportunity to include retail along 17th Ave. That big sterile wall of brick right across it doesn't do much for vibrancy

not this again........they didnt miss an opportunity, they are in the convention and meeting business, not the retail business. A single hotel is not providing what you think it does in regards to foot traffic. They are doing their job by providing events and visitors, the retail development focus will be stampede trail.

Since when does a hotel cost $330,000,000
$1,000,000 per room??? Seems outta whack to me
There are a lot of common facilities to build. Plus industrial laundry facilities, etc. This also looks to have high quality finishes, etc. It seems about right to me. I'm sure each of these rooms will generate as much or more revenue than a $1,000,000 condo being let out as an airbnb.
