The Alberta government is posting for a few passenger rail related jobs. Could be an early indicator on the implementation plan moving forward. At minimum they are giving ATEC money to hire so clearly there's some will for passager rail getting past a basic map...
I wonder if that will be a site for affordable housing. It's a city owned parcel as a former police parkade. Alternatively with the other side of the block burned out this whole site is ready for new life. Hope this one doesnt add to the blank spaces in the east village for long.

The Masterplan looks great so far, lots of interesting elements within those renders. It looks like an audience member would be able to see the skyline past the stage of the amphitheatre. The turf field is a nice addition of greenspace.
The minimum standard should be to preserve the external facing elements including the facade and the archways. If its new building behind that i think most people would agree to that balance of preservation and development. That also resolves having to retrofit the interior to modern standards.
New 2025 aerial imagery looks like they are prepping to divert the rail lines. Maybe the underpass work is starting soon.

It's likely the city owns the 8th Ave right away to 10th street so it could be solved between two parties. You have to wonder if the city could trade access and a more palatable project overall while getting percentage of units (or dedicated parcel) to be affordable housing.
