Everytime I see this one, I feel bad for those houses whose back decks now face a blank wall, and who will maybe get an hour of sunlight per day. I'm in favour of this kind of densification overall so I'm not complaining, but oof this must suck.

It's actually pretty much a straight line from the bridge to the back of the stores as there are pedestrian accesses between the houses.

The businesses that were there shut up shop 2-3 weeks ago, and the area is fenced off now so presumably some movement coming.

FWIW, this random directory site lists the president as Russ Butler, one of the founders of Wholesale Sports. In fact, the address listed on that page was the site of their Calgary store.
