Alberta's moto since 1980 has been "Fortis et liber", which translates as "strong and free". The current plate design is boring and dated. I like the idea of a picture plate, but none of the concepts are good. Wish they would use the mountain background from the 1990's driver's licenses.

The scope of this project is still unclear Is it 2 new towers or 3? Of those towers, which ones will reuse the existing foundation and which will require new foundations?

Probably a step towards Exxon selling its stake. Maybe to Suncor?

The bigger drag is the end of investor demand. It is difficult for the Millennial generation and younger to comprehend that condos are nothing more than a place to live

Dredging Burrard Inlet should be much easier to miantain than doing so for the St Lawrence as I suspect the sediment load to be much less. The St. Lawrence Seaway has never lived up to traffic projections and seems to be declining. The dream of significantly greater European trade will remain...

The Glenmore work really only solves the three to two lane squeeze on Deerfoot. Fixing Glenmore would require replacing the original bridge as well as providing ramps for all movements to avoid the silly routing through the auto center. I would argue that Glenmore is Calgary's most important...

Catching up on old posts. What is the motivation behind Phase II which would replace the existing bridge connecting north from the LRT into the community? That bridge replaced the original 1985 era bridge in the 2000s to accommodate a RIRO entrance off Memorial.

Blue Line could be elevated through the strip malls on the east side of 85th to West District so as to avoid NIMBYs. The parcel across from West District with the radio transmitters could be planned ar even higher density built around the Blue Line. It could then cross Stoney to another TOD on...

The Southland to Douglasdale stretch is progressing rapidly now and should vastly improve capacity. Still think the Glenmore - Blackfoot - Deerfoot complex needs to be a priority.

When I attended elementary school in the 70s, Calgary Transit did a half day session teaching kids how to ride transit: reading schedules, paying fares, transfers, safe riding etc. We also got to tour the Victoria Park facility to see how the buses are cleaned and maintained. It was well worth it.
