Note the correlation between areas with a lot of infill and older neighborhoods which are predominantly single family until recently.

    Calgary's Downtown Population

I think there were quite a few big projects with move ins just after the 2021 censu. Telus Sky, West Village and both of the Arris towers come to mind. 2021 was also during COVID where a chunk of the university age demographic moved back home so I wonder how that effected the numbers. I'm...

Most of those cultivars come from our east and are marketed as more prairie hardy varieties. Based on the US plant hardiness system, last year was the first sub zone 4 winter we have had in over 10 years. We've even had a few 5b winters. Our growing zone is comfortably a 4b at this point I would...

I think Chinooks are more a problem in early spring. I'm pretty sure dormancy is regulated by sunlight so they wouldn't wake up during December-february. But a week of 20 degree days above zero in late March followed by -10 days is havock

    Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

The UCP risks stepping in it if they have truly foreclosed on a grade separated line through downtown. There have already been studies that have shown that a mainly cut and cover tunnel is the most viable way to get through downtown given the CP tracks, 7th Ave transit line, traffic congestion...

    Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

The dust has settled and this government remains as petty and vindictive as ever. The thought of another surface line through downtown is just absurd. We are nearing 60,000 people living downtown and another 100,000+ working. We don't need another surface line and 7th Ave is already maxed out...

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

As someone who has fished the Bow for decades, that red roofed home is a bit of landmark when floating and always felt way outside the city. Even five years ago the Deerfoot extension was the end of city. Kind of sad so much of the Bow Valley is being developed.

This is the only modern arena design for a 18k+ seat arena that doesn't come across as imposing and monolithic from ground level. The design is a little busy but it manages to have nice scale at street level while still being a functional NHL arena.

Jesus, just leave that block alone and develop one of the used car lots.

It looks like a demolition permit was issued in January, so maybe there is some traction on this site. Though, I don't know if the multi tower BP permit from years back is still valid to allow for construction to start right away. Maybe @MichaelS could weigh in.
