IMO this is a good conversion. They changed the windows but left the building pretty much as is, which is a decent boutique building...

Agreed. One of my pet peeves is the seeming preponderance of black, charcoal grey, and white material choices on a lot of new buildings...

I am impressed that they are starting excavation so soon after demolition. Many projects in the neighbourhood taking their sweet time.
