Double track would be two lines running parallel to each other, typically with ~14' between track centers with one railroad in charge of the traffic running on both tracks. If it was separate tracks, CPKC would be responsible for traffic on their track and Liricon would be responsible for the...
As a CP employee, with no knowledge of any MOU or plans or agreements, I think it would have been sweet to just upgrade/double up our whole mainline to make the passenger traffic work on our network. Rather than the mess of them running parallel, just have it all integrated together. Knowing...
All good, I am just very excited to no longer get stuck at that crossing & light.
I think both it and the pedestrian tunnel will be good for the area. Not much room on the CP side of the tracks to develop right now, but I am confident on the Ogden side developing a lot once the line opens up.
The crossing is also used by other businesses on Ogden Dale Rd, which includes semi- trucks with trailers. That grade crossing is already quite tight with just the CPKC line, and the addition of 2 LRT tracks will increase the risk due to the decreased safe stopping area and large increase in...
To add for the reasoning for CPKC, the orientation of Ogden Road/69 Ave/Ogden Dale Rd means that typically 5-7 vehicles get through the light to make the left hand turn onto Ogden in the afternoon, creating large backups for employees leaving. When the Green Line goes in, there won't be room for...
Its even worse than just railway tracks. With the new rail bridge put in, yard switching operations are extended further West from Alyth, so there will now be even more noise from shoving cars back and forth.
On the on this page, it looks like bike lanes are planned to run on the two avenues parallel to University Ave, in addition to the existing network of multiuse pathways.
There is this development permit for a rooftop patio restaurant - https://developmentmap.calgary.ca/?find=DP2019-0996 for the same block, although the location doesn't quite match up (NW instead of SW corner of the block). But I can't see a rooftop patio working anywhere else on the block.
It looks like 14 units per floor ( going off off 7 balconies visible on 2 sides of the building). I counted 30 floors of balconies, and with two identical buildings that would yield 840 units.
Update on Costco construction in Taza. The gas bar has been constructed, and the outer foundation for the main building has been poured. There doesn't appear to be construction of any other developments in this area of Taza at this time.
