Calgary Flames Official Thread

I predict he will be gone before the Christmas roster freeze. A team should want to get guys into their team early. And the flames should avoid any risk of injury.

Murray Edwards strikes again. Does he not like having Gavin McKenna to open the new stadium that he doesn't even need to pay for?

Dreger on Insider Trading: "Murray Edwards, the owner of the Calgary Flames, is telling people that he has no interest in trading Nazem Kadri, in fact he doesn't want to trade Nazem Kadri, he loves the core of this team"

I'm optimistically hoping this is just ownership driving up the price. They're a last place team; you need something to drive up the price.

They're done, someone stick a fork in them! At this point there isn't a single soul out there who believes they'll make the playoffs. Time for a 100% full on rebuild, and I mean an actual rebuild.

Murray is in 0%, I don't see them rebuilding. Rebuilds happen when there is no other choice and they think there's another choice.

They will trade away 3-4 players this season before the deadline coming back will be some picks but probably some prospects or guys who are 23-25 and need a change of scenery. Then they will wait to see how they do in the draft lottery, if the get McKenna then there's no need to rebuild. Following that they will see what they can do in the offseason to try and improve the roster immediately

In order to rebuild, I think they would've had to been bad last season. Because even if they're bad next season, there will be a strong desire to try and do something to be better for the first year in the new arena.

We are already rebuilding! we traded all our top guys for picks and prospects 2 years ago. And because we traded all our talent we are currently last in the league with a good shot at our first ever 1st over all pick. What more do you want? Kadri is our best trade asset, but he's also our best mentor and his guidance will help the young guys be better if he does stick around. Doing better last year didn't really hurt us, Montreal got our first round pick and we still got 2 in the first round in a weak draft. We have 2 picks in this coming draft and it's quite possible we get #1! Trading Andersson might get us another first as well.

Last year was a strange one. We needed to completely tank to keep out 1st round pick, and I think Montreal would have received our first from this year instead? Much rather have picks in this coming draft.
