Just catching up after vacation. I believe there were two other hotel announcements? what were they?
The Vancouver project will come later, so a few years perhaps. Burnaby has a 258.4 m tower on the books, but that needs substantial presales. Just as the downtown Vancouver one does.I guess he's not aware of Vancouver's recent 315m hotel proposal?
The bar for the tallest in Western Canada is at 315m now...

On Truman's social media pages it says "these towers will be Alberta's tallest"The official height for this one is still unknown (Surrealplaces is using 248m as an educated guess). It's also not clear to me whether the tallest is a fact, or if it's a misinterpretation of Truman's announcement of "two of the tallest...".
We will have to wait until the formal DP submission to determine if they'll be the tallest in the west (or even the tallest in Calgary, for that matter).
Vancouver high rise residential market is collapsing in the near term. There is unprecedented fear on the west coast for the development industry. Calgary will gallop ahead. The Vancouver project will come later, so a few years perhaps. Burnaby has a 258.4 m tower on the books, but that needs substantial presales. Yeah, we dont have to beat anybody, as long as we make this project happen in our city is cool.I don't really care about beating Vancouver, as long as we beat those turnip eaters in Shelbyville.

Based on their estimated completion timeline, they'll need to move quickly. There's still no DP in but I would guess they'll try to secure partial DP's ASAP and break ground as soon as they get their shoring and excavation permits if they seriously want to stick to that timeline, assuming of course that their financing has been sorted out. When would construction begin? Or when would they start digging up that gravel lot?
