I wonder if there would be an appetite to host another Olympics now that there is a massive surge in nationalism and there is a recession looming.
Possibly. I suggest it's equally likely we'd go the other way - nationalism and massive economic change are convalescing around an infrastructure investment mandate that means we no longer need an Olympics to help align everyone to build those mega-projects.

Most national funding will likely be economically focused toward moving away from the US for imports. Stuff like a national east-west pipeline, new refineries which will be fast tracked in construction, new and expanded ports, removing interprovincial trade barriers, etc

"Early 2025": January 1-June 30. There's still time lol. I mean it is Spring now so we are getting close to mid 2025.
My definition of early is within the first three months, Jan-Mar. Any later than that and it doesn’t really seem early anymore….As Disco stated, it doesn’t look good at all for the city to be plowing ahead without sharing any insights into the redevelopment.

Keep in mind it was likely easier to clear the whole site for Arts Commons Phase I than it would be to be careful with something you're going to tear up in 6 months. I see it as economically efficient not as deceitful. We had our opportunity to say what we wanted Olympic Plaza to be, not everyone will like it but there's no way to make everyone like everything.

The cleared plaza land will probably be used as materials/equipment laydown yard for the building.

Yeah it's weird that they are just plowing ahead here without any public consultation. Meanwhile some random underpass gets multiple consults and reports. Something stinks here...
It's funny the mayor was talking about lack of engagement for the Green line downtown that is at best 2-3 years away when there's been zero engagement before the central piece of our Olympic legacy was torn down. With no public design or even a basic outline of the amenities

Again there was engagement, we just haven't seen a design. Even when we do we won't be able to change anything about it so I think not seeing a design is fine. Although I should remind myself where I'm writing this, a development forum that loves to critique design...
