A new milestone was reached on Verve, a 288-unit residential tower under construction in Calgary's East Village. This week saw the commencement of glass installation on what will become a 25-storey building.

Verve has been under construction for a year and half, and is now rising into the burgeoning East Village skyline. It is the second Calgary development by Greater Toronto Area-based Fram + Slokker, a partnership between Fram Builders and Slokker Real Estate Group. The first project, the aptly named First, sits across the street to the south and has been completed for almost two years.

SkyriseCities was there to check out the glass installation as it was happening. One of the first things that stands out about the glass is its high transparency and low reflectivity.

Aside from being significantly transparent, the panels are also large, covering the height from floor to ceiling. This will no doubt make the residential units bright and naturally well lit.

The glass installation has started along the floor on the west side just above the double-height first level. Stacks of glass panels can be seen in other areas of the project awaiting installation, indicating that further glazing installation at these locations is forthcoming.
