The last time we dedicated a complete photo-centric article to the under-construction Verve development in East Village, work on the 25-storey project was typified by below-grade activity, with the crane having just been installed. Crews accomplished several milestones in the months that followed, hitting ground-level and subsequently assembling the first floors that are now giving the project its highly angular form.
Under the master plan for East Village, Fram Building Group and Slokker Group have partnered to build 900 new homes and 43,000 square feet of retail space in the maturing neighbourhood. The aptly titled First was their inaugural building, and as Verve continues its ascent, the duo's relationship is solidifying the new age of condominium living in an area already known for its modern urban-mindedness.
Toronto-based Giannone Petricone Architects designed the tower, which includes an exterior articulation of fritted glass and colourful vertical highlights arranged alongside rows of protruding balconies. A six-storey podium serves as an activating element to the Riff streetscape, while providing a home for the lobby off of 6th Avenue. The tower's top is similarly defined, punctuated with a large rooftop lounge and terrace.
The 288-unit development will contain everything from one-bedroom layouts to spacious penthouses, including an exclusive selection of live/work units. There's also a sizable list of amenities on tap for residents, including a fitness studio, jacuzzi, and a kitchen-equipped party room.
