Since the ground was broken for yet another East Village project back in January, progress at Battistella's INK has been swift and readily apparent. The demolition of the sales centre was broadcast on a live stream, reducing the modest structure to rubble in a matter of minutes. Now, crews have dug about two storeys into the earth, with the beginnings of a crane base evidence of the tower's impending rise to its 14-storey apex.

Battistella has been keeping homebuyers and interested members of the public informed about the construction status of the site via INK's official website, which recently published an April update. Shoring has been completed and the exterior parkade walls have taken shape. A drill rig has created the site's network of tiebacks, which are horizontal steel rods that are drilled under the surrounding streets and buildings to stabilize the parkade walls. With the first level of parking cleared and 5,000 cubic metres of dirt removed from the site, construction has nearly reached the bottom of the hole.

Most of INK's 119 units will come with balconies, but because of their jagged and uneven expression, some units will be afforded more outdoor space than others. There will also be an extensive suite of amenities on tap, including a spacious rooftop patio complete with fireplaces. A repair room, pet wash station and bike storage provides residents with conveniences meant to make everyday life a little easier.

Designed by S2 Architecture, the building's podium is meant to adapt to host a variety of interior programs, serving as a gathering and social space for classes, yoga or quiet study. Multi-coloured panels affixed to the facade will provide the development with an added visual boost upon its completion.
