There’s a lot going on in Calgary.

During the last year at SkyriseCities, we’ve spoken with Thomas Christoffersen at BIG about their vision for Telus Sky. We’ve spoken with an active transportation planner about the city’s thriving bike lanes. We covered the ground breaking at N3 Condos last fall, and returned this fall to tour the topped-off building. Over in the Forum, we’ve learned about your outlandish dreams for the city, your opinions on whether or not the East Village is a successful neighbourhood, and look forward to learning which building in the Beltline is your favourite (so make sure you vote!).

And now we’re excited to welcome you to SkyriseCalgary, a dedicated site for news and discussion about development in the Stampede City.

On our front page, we’ll be covering the latest development proposals and keeping you informed as these projects rise. We’ll bring you the latest construction updates from our community of urban photographers and show you another side of the city each morning with our daily photo and news roundup.

Get lost in the Database while hunting for updates about The Royal. You might find yourself looking at Embassy Bosa’s other projects and wondering when there will be more news about Currie. But even if you’re disappointed by the slow movement there, looking at Dialog’s other projects in the city will surely console you.

Explore the map to see what’s been proposed around the corner or across the Bow. Whether you’re tracing your route to work or dreaming about life downtown, our map lets you visualize the Database while sorting projects by status and building use.

Share your photos, questions, and opinions in our Forum, where you’ll find a thread for each Database entry and discussions about local neighbourhoods and construction. The Forum is where you’ll find insider project information, daily photo updates from around the city, and new perspectives on development. Not to mention the colourful details that don’t always make the news. Did you know that you can use a porta potty to calculate the excavation depth of a construction site? Me neither. If you’re already a member of UrbanToronto or SkyriseCities, your login information will work here too. If not, you can sign up right here.

Now that you’re here, there are lots of ways to get involved. Submit your shots to our Daily Photo thread for a chance to be featured on the front page. Sign up for our newsletter to get weekly updates or follow us on Twitter to see stories as they come out. And if you’d like to work with us or promote a project on our site, we’d love to hear from you at contact@skyrisecities.com.
