    Edmonton Trail Mixed Use I 22.5m I 6s I Rick Balbi Architect

I kinda like it. Between this and trail 19 only a block south, it ought to liven up this stretch of Edmonton Trail.

So, in some fucking infuriating news, according to Dmap the DP for this one has been cancelled.

    Imperia | 95.3m | 27s | Truman

/\Good! We have lots of projects that seem to be stalled out so it would be nice to see this one move forward. It's a pretty cool looking building IMO.

Hopefully they will actually build it.

    906 Office Conversion | 80.5m | 22s | Makan Properties | Zeidler

Yeah I'm not sure why they couldn't at least try to find a way to tie the extra floors and the existing structure together a bit better.

    Statscan numbers

That's some very impressive growth #'s for our city! If we post a similar amount this year, it puts us at close to 1.8 million without even including Foothills/Okotoks etc which means our Calgary region population is getting really close to 2 million. I don't worry too much about the growth...

Hmmm I think they will struggle with attendance at that price. For roughly 10 bucks more you can go to the Calgary Zoo. Telus Spark is $26 for adults.

    Calgary International Airport

The important thing is to see those international numbers continue to increase. It shows Westjet's international expansion out of Calgary is working, and we might see even more international destinations (or at a minimum, frequency increases) if the numbers keep going up.

Calgary becoming the next Detroit: A look 10 years later.

Well, when I compare Edmonton to what I would call "peer cities" in the US (which, considering the very generous definition of their metro areas, I consider places like Columbus, Indianapolis, Kansas City, etc) I feel like Edmonton absolutely thumps those cities. I have travelled to nearly all...

Calgary becoming the next Detroit: A look 10 years later.

I know we like to slag on Edmonton but for a ~1.5 million metro I think they punch well above their weight. In the Canadian context, they are sort of left in the shadow of Calgary and Ottawa, both of which have a pretty big global profile/recognition for their size. Edmonton reminds me of...

So 8 units per building...are they stacked units or just 4 primary units + 4 secondary suites per building?

    Calgary Stampeders

Yeah, must admit I'm not particularly optimistic either. It sucks being a sports fan in Calgary these days :(

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

Yup, that's the one in the picture. The base doesn't look to be changing much while the added floors will have balconies. I'll be honest, it looks a little weird from the render but will be great to eat into our office oversupply while also getting even more residential into Beltline.

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

We are about to see the most ambitious residential conversion yet; DP just came in. It's a 9 storey building in Beltline on the block with the Atco buildings, next to the Alberta Ballet, and they are proposing to convert to residential and add 12 more floors of residential above. As you can...

/\My thoughts as well. A bit too much going on there.

    The Cornerstone | 36m | 10s | Peoplefirst

I must admit, the treatment of the first couple of floors is decent. Still not a fan of the rest of it though, but it is still a big win to replace vacant office space with residences...

    United Place Conversion | 27m | 8s | United Canadian Investments

I believe you are correct, which is a shame. However, based on the renderings it looks OK and ought to be a much better outcome than Cornerstone, as long as they don't use siding.
